Commodity Sourcing

The source of fresh produce is an important factor when considering different suppliers for your product. Big Sky Trading specializes in sourcing the very best fresh fruits and vegetables throughout all the major growing regions. We order twice a week from the biggest growing regions, ensuring a constant influx of the freshest produce possible. The commodities sourced from our growers are then delivered into the Denver metro area for distribution.

Over the recent years, we have increased our reach to source directly from the Pacific Northwest as well, procuring the freshest crops including apples, pears, cherries, potatoes and onions. But we didn’t stop there – we looked beyond our borders and pushed to bring you products sourced from outside the United States, specifically Mexico, which allows us to keep a steady supply of squash, avocados, tomatoes, cucumbers and melons. Our expansive territory for sourcing allows us to adjust our truck routes to go directly to the regions that meet our customer’s needs while maintaining excellent quality of sourced produce.

Warehousing

Big Sky Trading can help with much more than just sourcing fresh, quality produce as we specialize in storage and warehousing as well. Whether you need your product stored for the short term or long term, we’ve got you covered with our refrigerated and dry storage options.

We understand the importance of proper handling and storage of fresh goods and produce and have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to specific requirements for each product. Organic produce is no exception to these specific requirements, and being Organic Certified with the Colorado Department of Agriculture allows us to properly handle Organic and fresh product without concerns of commingling with anything else. We are also a PrimusGFS certified facility, which is considered the most comprehensive and in-depth food safety program in the world. Therefore, we strive to bring you superior quality in our product and services, including warehousing, by following ongoing changes to standards and practices in our industry.
